The Brief.

We were briefed by the Football Association of Wales, focusing on the epic showdown between The New Saints, the Welsh Cup holders the league’s most valuable club, and Bala Town, the underdog that surprised everyone by defeating The New Saints in the 2017 final. With the stakes high, the mission was to create a campaign for this anticipated JD Welsh Cup final to captivate active fans and neutral spectators.

JD Welsh Cup Final Showdown: A Multiplier Marketing Triumph by Rebel Lion Advertising

The Outcome .

Guided by our advertising strategists, we adopted a multiplier marketing method to amplify the reach and impact. Despite the challenges posed by the region’s rural geography, we included a vast audience within a 75-minute drive time radius of the Nantporth Stadium. Our strategy engaged core active fans and the wider neutral audience within the total adult population of 425,136.

In a powerful blend of traditional and innovative marketing techniques, we unleashed an 11-format campaign using radio, rail, large format, ambient and gorilla media tactics. Iconic landmarks like Conwy Castle and The Menai Suspension Bridge were transformed into colossal advertising canvases, creating an emotional connection with the audience. The result was a surge of interest among active and neutral fans, underlining the potency of the multiplier effect in marketing. Our campaign didn’t just meet the objectives set by the Football Association of Wales – it exceeded them.
