HALO Space, a revolutionary global Near Space tourism company, are powered by deep expertise, the industry’s most brilliant minds, and advanced and proven aerospace technologies. They aim to open up near-space travel to thousands of passengers within this decade. Designed by Frank Stephenson, their helium-powered balloons have zero emissions, meaning their trips don’t leave an environmental footprint. Their test flight program has already begun, and we were recently invited to attend their Launch Press Conference at The Peninsula, London to capture some content of this momentous occasion.
The event showcased HALO’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation as industry leaders, media representatives, and enthusiasts gathered to witness this groundbreaking venture. The sleek design of the helium-powered balloons, courtesy of Frank Stephenson Design, was a highlight, showcasing a blend of futuristic aesthetics and practical engineering.
Our Chief Strategy Officer, Jamie Hibbard, had the privilege of interviewing Halo’s Founder & CEO, Carlos Mira and Design Director, Frank Stephenson.
“It was an incredible experience to interview both Carlos and Frank – they were such genuine, warm personalities. I’ve been a huge admirer of Frank’s work especially for years, as he’s done some truly iconic cars – especially for Ferrari (my favourite car marque). So, all in all, it was an absolute pleasure.“
Carlos Mira passionately outlined HALO’s vision for the future of space travel. He emphasised the importance of making near-space experiences accessible to a broader audience while maintaining a commitment to environmental sustainability.
Frank Stephenson, renowned for his work in the automotive industry, shared his inspiration behind the design of the helium-powered balloons. He explained how the seamless integration of cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly materials resulted in a craft that not only performs exceptionally well but also aligns with HALO’s green ethos. His insights into the design process were fascinating, revealing the meticulous attention to detail that went into creating a zero-emissions vehicle capable of offering a unique space travel experience.
The press conference also provided an opportunity to learn more about the rigorous testing phases that HALO’s balloons have undergone. The successful test flights mark a significant milestone, proving the viability and safety of the technology. These developments bring HALO one step closer to realising their ambitious goal of commercial near-space travel.
As we left The Peninsula, it was clear that HALO is not just a company, but a movement poised to redefine our relationship with space. Stay tuned for more updates as HALO continuous to make strides in its mission to make space travel accessible for all.
